Qi Gong at the Flagstaff Yoga Festival
Qi Gong at the Flagstaff Yoga Festival in Flagstaff, AZ July 30, 31 and August 1.
There will be TWO Qi Gong presenters spreading the knowledge and power of Qi Gong to the Yoga community this year at the Flagstaff Yoga Festival in Flagstaff, AZ July 30, 31 and August 1. This is a natural “fit” since Qi Gong is often referred to as “Chinese Yoga”.
I have practiced Yoga 20 years longer than I have practiced Qi Gong and find that they compliment each other. My experience with my Yoga practice was that I could never get totally out of my “head” and let the asana “be”. I would always be trying to make a correction, get additional extension or rotation. With my Qi Gong 18 Style practice, I am able to simply BE. Many days I will come to the end of the ritual practice and not be consciously aware of having done some of the movements; however, when I checked the clock, the ritual has taken the usual 20 minutes so I must have done it all! This ability to truly ‘let go’ has opened my consciousness to many inspirations and revelations that help me be more of who I truly am–to be in the present.
If you are thinking of treating yourself to a special vacation this year, check out Northern Arizona, the Flagstaff Yoga Festival, and the Qi Gong workshops. We would love to see you there!
What is Qi Gong?I often am asked. “What is Qi Gong?”
The answer of course for me is that it is a ritual that is a Body, Mind and Spirit enhancing practice. When done on a regular basis over time can bring about greater health, vitality, mental clarity and communication. Simply a more fulfilling life. A practice that over time continues to grow even thought you are doing the same ritual each day. I just keeps revealing more to you.
I came across this article in a magazine I picked up at a local health food store. I thought it was a clear explanation of Qi Gong and the publisher has given permission for me to share it with you, so I pass it on to you.
Enjoy the article. Practice Qi Gong.
What you should know about SugarsYou can have a regular practice of Qi Gong 18 Style, avoid unhealthy foods and still have your health threatened by the lack of awareness of where sugar is, what it does, how we are deceived by marketing of sugar substitutes.
Take a few minutes and educate your self to what really is in the world of sweeteners. Increase your awareness, improve your health.
Qi EnergyEverything has Qi Energy. Qi Energy is the source of life. It is in all living things, animate and inanimate. Qi Energy is the connection we all have with each other and with the universe around us. Qi Energy (connection) is what we feel when we have a sense of connection to another person, place or thing. It is the Qi Energy that we are relating to. It is that which gives us a feeling of connectedness.
As you practice Qi Gong, you first become aware of the Qi Energy in your own body. You begin to be more aware of what is happening on the inside and of how you move. You have an improved awareness of your surroundings and of your connection to self.
Your Qi Gong practice begins to progress when that feeling, that connection, that awareness begins to encompass the “world” outside, yet close to your body. This is the Micro Cosmic Orbit. Over time, as you expand your awareness, you begin to move the ‘sphere of awareness’ further and further out until you encompass the entire universe. This is the Macro Cosmic orbit.
You are always only feeling the Qi Energy; however, the scope of your awareness expands. When you are at the point of Macro Cosmic Orbit, you are truly connected to everything and everyone…and you know it.
